This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities. Target groups for the HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation are students who are seeking to develop or refresh their skills and knowledge in CPR to further their career prospects or study pathways.

Course duration:
This unit will be delivered over 1.5 hours face to face and self-paced for training and assessment.
Entry requirements
Penny Royal College has the following entry requirements:
Students must have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills, for example, to be able to read the training materials and complete assessment tasks. This will be tested through online studies and assessments.
Any amount charged during the booking process will be fully refunded if the student is unable to complete the online studies and assessments because of LLN skills.
Assessments
A range of assessment methods will be used to assess required skills and knowledge for each unit of competency. These may include but not limited to may be case studies, written or verbal questioning, role plays, observations and practical demonstration. Students will be notified in advance of the time and form of an assessment. As this is a competency-based training, outcome of the student assessment will be deemed Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC).
