Mental Health First Response (MHFR) is a non-accredited training initiative developed by Penny Royal College to strengthen mental health awareness and response capabilities within the community. The program aims to promote mental wellbeing, prevent escalation of mental health concerns, and support early intervention for individuals experiencing distress or emerging mental health issues. Participants will learn to recognise early signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, provide compassionate first-line support, and connect individuals with appropriate professional or community resources.

Although the MHFR program is not formally accredited or affiliated with any external organisation, it has been designed to align with contemporary best practices in mental health education and community support. The course underscores Penny Royal College’s ongoing commitment to cultivating a culture of care, resilience, and psychological safety in workplaces, educational settings, and the broader community.

Importantly, all MHFR sessions will be facilitated by qualified trainers who hold accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification recognised by MHFA Australia. Their professional expertise ensures that the training is delivered with credibility, sensitivity, and practical relevance. Through this initiative, Penny Royal College contributes meaningfully to the promotion, prevention, and early intervention of mental health disorders, empowering individuals to respond effectively and empathetically.
